Villavicencio, a Colombian city, capital of the department of Meta, and commercial center of the Llanos Orientales, is located in the foothills of the Cordillera Oriental, west of the department of Meta, on the left bank of the Guatiquía River. Its climate is hot and very humid, with average temperatures of 27 °C. It is located 86 km south of the capital of Colombia, Bogotá,6 two and a half hours by highway to Llano.

Along the Piedemonte Llanero route, which starts towards the north of Villavicencio, just three kilometers from this capital, is the Los Ocarros Biopark. There the visitor can take a tour of the fauna, flora and the main ecosystems of the Orinoquia.

This beautiful garden has been built around the lake formed by the dam of the Aguas Claras creek that rises in the Vanguardia reserve, at the gates of which is the Biopark.
